SLOUCHY KNITS

A man in blue shirt and hat standing next to table.

For me, cold weather weekend styling is all about slouchy knits. I like the ease of throwing on a look that’s casually chic, low maintenance and doesn’t require a lot of thought. Although the slouchy sweater is easy to wear, don’t be fooled into thinking that they’re all created equal. They’re not. It’s important to note that cut is key. “Slouchy” does not mean humongous. They should still accentuate the body, but in a relaxed way. I like knits that have an interesting neckline or sleeve. I think that there should be some element to the design that makes them a bit unique. Most of my slouchy sweaters tend drape in an interesting way, like this one I wore last summer. The wonderful thing about knits is that they come in all price points and can look luxurious even when inexpensive. Having said that, “bespoke knitting” is all the rage, so if you have the skill….use it! There’s nothing more chic than wearing a “one off” sweater of your own design.

It is just a matter of trying a few different styles and you will know it when you find the right one Joyce. And, don’t forget to wear it with “Attitude”

What a gorgeous outfit! I adore silvery grays and blue-grays, and they look beautiful on you. Slouchy is harder to do well with a humongous bust. I’ve got a couple of more structured, woven-fabric tops from Target that I wear over skinny jeans and boots — the effect isn’t quite as good as what you’ve got going here! I’ll have to find a slouchy cardigan to wear over a tank top, I think.

Yes Fran it is more difficult but not impossible. A darker color would help and that slouchy cardigan is also a good idea.

Fabulous look. Would you please share the lip and nail colors? Gorgeous.

The lipstick is Revlon Peach #628. My favorite and at drugstore prices!
I don’t know the name of the nail color as I have my nails done professionally at a nail salon and I just ask for the brightest orange available.

Even when you are slouchy, you look fantastic. And stop dangling that Prada bag before my eyes haha 😄😄.

Thanks Greetje. This slouchy look is great for me ….no Spanx needed. That Prada bag was a birthday present from me to me a few years ago.
