CASUAL BLUES

A man in blue shirt and hat standing next to table.

I’m a big fan of denim. It’s fun, it’s modern, and it leaves a huge amount of room for personal creativity. The issue I have with it, is usually the way it’s styled. Paired with a t-shirt and a pair of sneakers, it can look sloppy. I live in Las Vegas and I see this combination everywhere on the strip. It’s the “unofficial” tourist uniform. I’m going to be honest, I really don’t like it. Unless you are a teenager, that look is not going to do anyone any favors.

Like everyone else, I love the ease of throwing on a pair of jeans. I get that most people choose them for their comfort and simplicity. However it really doesn’t take that much effort to transform an ordinary pair of jeans into a cool, stylish, casual outfit.

For Fall, I usually pair my denim with a pretty sweater and a cute pair of shoe boots, then throw on a few interesting accessories and I’m ready to roll. It’s still comfortable, and takes minimal effort, but it’s a lot more pulled together than a t-shirt and sneakers. What I love about denim is that you can create a stylish look rather inexpensively. I put together this entire look for under $150.

Classy, I too love jeans, with boots, jewelry , scarfs , jackets. Used to be my uniform . ..still a go to, but never with sneakers. Maybe mink coat in dead of Winter …but never sneakers !

Could not agree more. Sneakers are for the gym unless you are a teenybopper. I love pairing my jeans with a great boot in the Winter and a wedge or high heel sandals in the Summer. I like the idea of a mink coat too!

I feel like you’ve been listening to my conversations with my husband…(me: why do people think that jeans & a t-shirt makes them look good—ugh!) This is a perfect example of putting on the same number of pieces of clothing, yet looking Great! jodie

      Thanks Jodi:
I love wearing jeans and they lend themselves to so many different looks both casual and dressy. You just have to be a bit creative.

Ever so lovely this outfit. And I agree that sloppy jeans and an old T-shirt are not flattering. This outfit is though. I tried to achieve a similar look today but wound up looking sportive. As my husband said. He liked it, I didn’t really. White (brandnew) sneakers (basketball type), neopreen sweatshirt, nice but more square than I like. It is better on a skirt. And dark blue skinnies. Hmmm. I like your outfit much more.
