HATS ARE BACK
Hats are one of my favorite accessories. From a practical perspective, I like to shield my face from the sun whenever possible, so wearing a hat not only looks stylish, but also has the added bonus of protecting my face from harmful UV rays. I also think they are a fast and easy way to make a basic outfit a bit cooler, without exerting too much effort. There, I said it. I wear them when I’m feeling lazy and just can’t be bothered to think about being stylish. Don’t we all have days like that?
I purchased this hat at Barney’s of New York in Las Vegas last Fall for a holiday my daughter and I were taking to Japan. At $250, I considered it an investment and even splurged on a hat box to transport it in. Does anyone carry hats boxes anymore? Yes. I do. I felt silly taking it as my carry on, but you know what, I wore it practically every day because it spiced up a rather ordinary travel wardrobe.
Although this hat was rather pricey, there are plenty of inexpensive, stylish options to be found if you know where to look. I was invited to a hat party a few months ago and went on a last minute shopping spree for the event. My search for the right hat ended at Target where I discovered a big, floppy, dramatic black hat for a very reasonable $19.00. An exciting find and a great addition to my wardrobe.
I also recently purchased a few hats from Topshop for $25 each and also came across some other bargain options at Zara, H&M and Forever 21. If you seek, you shall find.
